Can't find Joni's version, but this one is sweet

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXOvScgwhzk

Rain comes from the east one night
We watch it come
To hang like beaded curtains till the morning sun
Water dripping from our clothes
You, with raindrops on your nose,
Ask me sadly, please dont go away, no
Till the rain is done, I say, I'll stay now

Rain outside but inside we dont mind at all
Shadows by the fire
Slowly climb and fall
Kisses fade and leave no trace
Whispers vanish into space
None will send me on a chase to nowhere
What matters if I were the first to go there?

Morning comes up from the east
We watch it come
And far away now rolls the angry rain gods drum
You, with daybreak in your eyes
Afraid to speak for telling lies
I watch you search for some reply to lend me
But when the rain is done we'll stop pretending

Sandy Denny. Probably the only lady with a more lovely voice than Joni`s

you are so right NS!

Sandy and Joni go #1 & #2 in my book as well.

Sandy gets the nod in songwriting too. just unbelievably great.

No shit! awesome! I didn't know that Neil jammed with Phish
I also noticed this one there. Roy Buchanan doing that song live. If you don't know Roy, give it a listen.
Imo, one of the top 10 guitarists ever

Hey N.S.

Iwould gladly trade you some wonderful Roy Buchanan for a DVD of Rockpalast. If you check my posts you will see that I've been advocating his stuff here for ages - and Jerry agrees with me!

Forum: GratefulDead Subject: It`s all The Band`s Fault

If it weren`t for The Band I wouldn`t be here (on this forum I mean).
When I was about 11 or 12 I stayed up late and watched "The Last Waltz" My babysitter made me but it was an epiphany. Before that I liked Madonna and what ever the top 10 was at the time. But once I`d seen that my life changed. Bob Dylan, Van Morrisson.......
Bought a Muddy Waters record, soon I had J L Hooker, Lightning Hopkins etc .........
But the real culprit was Neil Young, I bought "Decade" that week and have never looked back.
Neil begat CSN&Y begat David Crosby(If I Could Only Remrmber My Name) begat the Dead.
Anyway,. if it wasn`t for that film I`d probably be a totally different person now.
I know most of you have seen The Grateful Dead but how did you find them?
